Acne is like a tree, with deep roots below the surface. You need to do more than just treat the symptoms of acne. Treatment for acne is possible. Professionally as an Esthetician I believe in a holistic approach to acne treatment which includes taking a look at hormones, diet, lifestyle, and skin care. Acne treatment is not a one size fit all approach!
I wanted to take a moment and summarize a few thoughts I have about acne care and treatment. With this being said, if you are struggling and have been struggling reach out to a licensed professional for help. Again, treatment is possible! Working with an esthetician who specializes in holistic esthetics can help design a balanced routine and give lifestyle suggestions to keep you healthy inside and outside and clear the way for clear skin success.
First with acne treatments since there are two things to consider:
Symptoms vs Causes
A symptom is any subjective evidence of skin disease or skin disorder. Conditions of the skin expressed through symptoms are things like Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis etc.
A cause is a region or origin of something and the root from which the symptoms stem from. ex: nutritional imbalances, digestive imbalances.
The fundamental methods of treating acne can be visualized thinking of a tree which represents how signs and symptoms stem from root causes including genetics, environment, and lifestyle. Healthy Roots = Healthy Skin.
Based on the signs and symptoms that the client shares, an acne specialist is then able to look at the core clinical imbalances and develop a skin regimen and treatment plan that targets the root cause.
For beginning acne treatment, I encourage my clients to schedule a 45 Minute Skin Care Education Session with me OR schedule 90 Minute Dhara Acne Treatment. Either would be a good baseline for talking about acne treatment and getting a deeper level of understanding on what is going on internally and externally.
As someone who has struggled with acne and texture along with other skin challenges - I know that it impacts both physically and emotionally. Treatment is possible without needles, aggressive downtime, and prescriptions. Sometimes with acne treatment (depending on the cause!!) a pharmaceutical route is the path forward. What I am sharing is a holistic approach to consider before exploring medical avenues or for those who have tried more aggressive clinical approaches to acne care with no result or have developed subsequent skin challenges (sensitivity, skin purging, scaring etc) with skin health.
